Levels of Change
Judging the level of reduced pollution is difficult. Below please find an explanation for the logic behind the labels.
Significant:
Change is achieved by ending the behavior, the use of a product, or the consumption of a resource.
Metaphor: Emergency braking
Noticeable:
Change is achieved by reducing the total pollution/ energy consumption of a necessary behavior or product.
Metaphor: Applying the brakes
Change is very small and irrelevant if other changes do not take place beforehand.
Positive change is achieved by using a wasteful, luxurious, and unnecessary product and/or behavior that pollutes less than another wasteful, luxurious, and unnecessary product and/or behavior.
Metaphor: Easing of the gas pedal
